How to get the most out of your trending posts on Pinterest!

Something I like to do when I am trying to give myself a traffic boost on Pinterest and to my blog is look at my Pinterest analytics.

I like to see which of my pins/posts is most popular right now so I can make sure I am getting the most out of my trending content!

Here are some tips, on how to get the most our of your trending content on Pinterest!

First, I look at which of my pins is getting the most “outbound clicks.”

You are going to go to your analytics tab at the top of your profile, and then you will click on “overview.”

From here, scroll down until you see “Top Pins.” Then click on “outbound clicks.” You have the option to choose if you only want to see pins from the last 30 days. I usually do both, but first, I start with all of my pins!

The reason I look at all of my pins is that sometimes really old pins are trending! For example, this is my top trending pin right now; as you can see, this post was written in 2018! So to make sure I am getting the most out of all the traffic to this pin, I am going to make sure this post is up to date!

Not only that, but I am going to make sure this post is either promoting something or if there is a way to grow my email list! Having an email list is SO essential when earning money with your blog or your online business. It’s the BEST way to reach your audience.

Creating an opt-in where they get something for free in return for an email is the best way to build your list with people that are interested in the content you have to offer! PLUS, you can add some extra freebies or promote a product within your freebie.

SO if you don’t have anything to sell at the moment OR if you just want to grow your list, make sure your popular post has some sort of opt-in in it!

This post has an opt-in! Next, I need to make sure this opt-in is current, as I don’t want to be pushing out outdated information!

Another thing you want to make sure your popular posts have are backlinks. These are links that will take your reader to another blog post or page on your website. Not only does this help with your bounce rate, but it shows your reader you offer more content they may be interested in.

I try to have at least ONE backlink per post; it also helps with SEO.

When it comes down to which links you should add, you want them to somewhat pertain to what your current post is about. You can eitherhighlight a word in the post and link it. Or you can say, “if you like this post you may be interested in this one too!”

ALWAYS make sure you are clicking on the option to, “open a link in a new tab.” This way if they want to keep reading the post they are on, the backlink opens in a new window.

Affiliate links!

If you are an affiliate for an item or service that fits in with your post, ADD IT! If it’s a trending post/pin, then you have a much higher chance of making an affiliate sale via that popular post!

NOTE: You ALWAYS have to put a disclaimer AT THE TOP of your post if you add affiliate links. I see people make this mistake all the time. You can get in BIG trouble if you are not disclosing that your blog post contains affiliate links.

It can be as simple as this: {This post may contain affiliate links, which means I make a small commission at no extra cost to you. See my disclosure for more details.} That is what I use in all my posts with links!

So as you can see, there are a few ways to spice up your popular posts on Pinterest!
